Year 3
Welcome to Year 3!
As we transition into Key Stage 2, Year 3 is an exciting time for students to build a love for learning and grow into mature individuals. Our curriculum is designed to foster creativity and personal growth, ensuring that each child is ready for the challenges ahead.
In maths, we will master many skills including the four operations, telling the time, fractions, measurement, shape, and much more. Our lessons will help students develop a strong mathematical foundation.
In English, we will put our creative writing skills to the test by writing various genres of stories, including portal stories and warning tales. We will also tackle non-fiction by writing instructions, letters, and reports.
Our reading program will explore a wide range of themes in both fiction and non-fiction, such as children’s classics, notable people, and even Disney songs. Each half term, we will study a new novel, adding to the excitement of our literary journey. In science, we will learn about the human body, rocks, forces and magnets, and plants. Our hands-on approach will make these topics come alive.
Our history lessons will take us back in time to ancient Egypt, the Stone Age to the Iron Age, and the Anglo-Saxons, Scots, and Vikings. In geography, we will explore Asia, rivers, and Western Europe, expanding our understanding of the world. We will also delve into computing, art, PE, DT, music, and RE, ensuring a well-rounded education. To enhance our learning and make lasting memories, we have some fun trips planned too. We cannot wait to see Year 3 thrive next year!
