Welcome to our Reception class!

We are thrilled to welcome you to our warm, inclusive and stimulating environment where children are encouraged to explore, play and learn in a way that feels natural and joyful. Our child-led approach supports every area of development, with high-quality interactions guiding children through a rich and exciting school day.

Throughout the year, we dive into a variety of engaging topics that spark curiosity and creativity:

All About Me! We celebrate each child’s individuality by exploring identity, emotions, families and friendships. This topic helps children build self-awareness and empathy as they learn more about themselves and others.

Transport! From bicycles to rockets, we explore how people move from place to place. Children compare past and present modes of transport and investigate the wonders of travel in our local area and beyond.

Space! Our budding astronauts journey into the universe, discovering planets, stars and the brave explorers who have ventured into the unknown. It’s a topic full of wonder and imagination.

Growing and Changing! Children explore the seasons, discover how plants grow, and learn about food and farming. They even get to plant their own seeds and watch them flourish, as well as observe the transformation from tadpole to frog!

Kings and Queens! Children step into the world of royalty, exploring castles, crowns and historical figures. We learn about leadership, traditions and the fascinating lives of monarchs past and present.

Stories from the Past! Children become time-travelling storytellers, uncovering tales from long ago and around the world. Through role play and exploration, they discover how people lived, worked and played in different eras.

Throughout the year, we attend a number of exciting out of school activities including local walks and a farm trip!

We’re so excited to begin this incredible journey with our Reception children. With every topic, every question and every smile, we see them grow into confident learners ready to take on the world. Let the adventure begin!
