OFSTED

The Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) is an organisation set up by the government. Their job is to inspect schools (plus other organisations) to ensure that education for children is up to set standards. They are also responsible for ensuring that children are well looked after and kept safe whilst in school.

Our latest Ofsted report can be accessed here.

We are pleased to share that Hawkesley Church Primary Academy has received the below grading from Ofsted.

Ofsted Rating

A blog written by Headteacherchat.com explains how the new grading compares to the previous grading. The below extract is a useful tool to use when reading through the report.

“Expected” represents what “Good” used to be, again with elevated standards. A school that was solidly “Good” might now receive “Expected”, which should be understood as meeting the standards for effective education.

“Strong” roughly correlates to what “Outstanding” used to be, but with a higher bar. Schools that were comfortably “Outstanding” under the old system may now find themselves graded “Strong” – and this is not a reflection of decline in quality.”
